Tanzanite

Tanzanite is a pretty new gem in the world of coloured stones. The story goes like this: back in 1967, a member of the Masai tribe found some amazing violet-blue crystals in a place called Merelani in northern Tanzania. Quickly after, Tiffany & Company saw a great opportunity to sell a special gem around the world, so they decided to be the main seller of it. They named this gem tanzanite after the country where it was found. In 1968, they launched a huge advertising campaign to get everyone excited about it. Suddenly, tanzanite became super popular among top jewellery designers and gem experts, as well as people who loved unique and pretty stones.
